James Harvey

James Harvey was born in Ithaca, N.Y., and served in the US Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Ticonderoga CVA 14 during the Vietnam era after graduation from Union-Endicott High School in Endicott, N.Y., and attendance at Union College in Kentucky.

In civilian life, he was an insurance agent, a media sales associate for radio and print, and a school bus driving safety instructor for 20 years. In New York, he sang with fellow barbershoppers and was a past Commodore of the Whitney Point Sailing Club.

Retiring to Cambridge, Md., he enjoyed sailing, singing, camping and tennis. He played French Horn in the Mid-Shore Community Band, belonged to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church choir and played bridge. Every year, Jim and Nancy created a boating safety display for the local library.

Jim loved to tell stories, make people laugh, and make his community a better place. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

He leaves behind his devoted wife of 52 years, P/C Nancy Lee Harvey, twin daughters, and 2 grandchildren.
