Harold Brewer

P/D/C Harold “Hal” L. Brewer, AP, age 82, passed away at home on Friday, Feb. 17, 2023.

After college at Auburn University, Hal had successful careers as a United States Naval Aviator and Delta Airlines Captain, and yes, that is achieved by an equal number of take-offs and landings.

Hal retired from flying airplanes in 2000, and he and his wife, Pat, moved to Lillian, Alabama, and began boating as members of the Perdido Bay (AL) Squadron/15. United States Power Squadrons was blessed with his membership, and he served for 23 years in all levels of leadership.

Hal served on national committees, as District 15 commander, and as Perdido Bay Power Squadron commander. It’s important to note that his wife of 60 years, Pat, supported Hal in all of his billets. As a Certified Instructor, Hal was a powerhouse educator that taught nearly 100 America’s Boating Courses that graduated safer boaters in Alabama and Florida waters. He provided solid basic boating knowledge education and more. He worked with the USPS Education Team to teach four additional courses and 13 seminars.

Hal progressed through the Advanced Piloting course grade, and Boat Operator Certification as an Inland Navigator. He was awarded 18 merit marks.

We all will miss Harold “Hal” Brewer, AP-IN. We lost a great leader and a super friend.
