P/R/C Horst Boettge, SN, of South Carolina’s Golden Corner Lakes Sail & Power Squadron/26 passed away on July 15, 2022. A founding member of Golden Corner Lakes Sail & Power Squadron, Horst was its first commander.
Horst had a 39-year history with USPS and served as a key member of the USPS Cooperative Charting Committee for many years. His extensive service in this capacity resulted in a national-level award being named in his honor—the Horst Boettge Excellence in Cooperative Charting Award.
Horst was a walking encyclopedia of squadron history and protocols and a guiding star for the squadron.
