Carl Dearmin

Past Commander Carl Dearmin, JN, joined United States Power Squadrons in 1998 in the northwest and transferred his membership to the Savannah River Sail & Power Squadron after moving south.

Along with Frank Clayton and a couple of dozen others, Carl helped found South Carolina’s Thurmond Lake Sail & Power Squadron/26 in 2000.

Carl took many educational classes, eventually earning the rank of Junior Navigator. He received the Educational Proficiency Award in 2006.

Carl was Thurmond Lake Squadron commander in 2006. After serving as commander, he remained active in the squadron. He also served as port captain for many years and was also on the national Cooperative Charting Honor Roll in 2015.
