Barbara Beers

Barbara “Barb” Beers fought a courageous battle with cancer for two years but lost on a Sunday evening with her family at her side. Barb served the Catawba Sail & Power Squadron as commander for two years and also held positions in District 27 and at the national level. She always had a positive outlook on everything. In addition to America’s Boating Club | United States Power Squadrons, she also was a volunteer with the Boy Scouts and Sea Scouts and active in her church.

Born in Pittsburgh, she graduated from Oakmont High School in Pennsylvania in 1964 and from Grove City College in 1969. Barb loved to be on the water first sailing with her husband and then being his first mate on their pontoon boat on Lake Wylie. She partnered with her husband in teaching America’s Boating Course for many years. She loved to cook and bake, especially her famous nut rolls at Christmas time, and taught her granddaughter how to make them so that the tradition can continue. Barb’s absence will leave a hole in many hearts.

  1. Barb, along with her husband Bill, was the backbone of our Squadron for many years. She always had community service and fellowship as her driving forces for the Squadron. She was also dedicated to boating education and taught many ABC courses. Beyond that, she was a wonderful friend and loving, giving person to all who knew her. She is sorely missed.

  2. Barb a true treasure and a gift to our USPS and so much more….

Thank you for coming our way, Barb
